The Ontario Dental Association presents The Annual Spring Meeting (ASM) taking place today through Saturday. Marking its 158th year, those in attendance will fill the Metro Toronto Convention Centre South Building and find more than 100 workshops and a wide variety of exhibits.
Exhibitors from across Canada and the United States will cover the 75,000 square feet of convention center space with the latest dental products and services. There will also be demonstrations and the chance to test out new gadgets for your office.
While your mind is being stimulated on the exhibit floor, let your body relax. Back again is The Relaxation Zone, a place where professional massage therapists are standing by to give you a free 10-minute neck and shoulder massage.
And after your body has been taken care of with the massage, clear your mind with an immersion oxygen experience. An Oxygen Bar has been set up where you can sit at a personal oxygen station and enjoy oxygen treatments. The oxygen is infused with different scents that you can choose to feel refreshed and alert and ready to learn more.
Want to see how procedures are done and get a live look at the process? Two expert clinicians will be performing dental procedures live on patients for all to see. At the live dentistry stage, join Dr. Gary Glassman as he performs a live patient endodontic procedure. Glassman will use the new Reciproc Blue reciprocating nickel titanium system as part of the procedure. It takes place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
On Friday, the live stage comes back alive as Dr. Mark Lin performs an advanced implant procedure. This will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m. You can earn two continuing education credits.
The ASM has a fantastic lineup of guest speakers, and this year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Brad Nieder. Known as the Healthy Humourist, Nieder is a real physician who also is a funny motivational speaker. Described as “Jerry Seinfeld with an MD”, Neider grew up watching Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show” monologues as well as David Letterman’s “Late Night” antics. He was a founding member of an improvisational troupe (The Simps) while an undergraduate student at Stanford University and performed stand-up comedy throughout the Denver area while in medical school at the University of Colorado.
For attendees looking for continuing education credits, there are several opportunities. You can earn up to three credits per half day at the ASM. However, some clinical hands-on workshops include bonus credits. Some courses have prerequisites.
The exhibit floor will be open until 5:30 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday. There will be no exhibits on Saturday.
For all the latest events and classes taking place at this year’s ASM, don’t forget to download the ASM25 mobile app. You can find exhibitors and products names as well as booth locations in the exhibit hall.
