MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA: Continuing education is vitally important to dental professionals, who continually strive to offer ever better care to their patients. That’s why events like the annual Journees dentaires internationales du Quebec (JDIQ) are so valuable. The 2012 JDIQ meeting, held May 25 to 29, offered dozens of educational opportunities.

Attendees at this year’s meeting had even more educational opportunities, thanks to the participation of the Dental Tribune Study Club (DTSC), which offered C.E. lectures in a showcase on the exhibit hall floor.

Some of the DTSC highlights included a presentation by Dr. Eli Raviv on the use of short dental implants in reduced alveolar bone height; a presentation by Dr. Scott Benjamin on SIROLaser Advance, the new dimension in laser therapy; and a presentation by Dr. John Comisi, “A Bioactive Breakthrough in Direct Restorative Care.”

The meeting was teeming with dental professionals seeking new information and innovative products. The goal, of course, was to seek out anything that can improve the efficiency of a practice, make treatment better, and ultimately improve patient care.

It is estimated that more than 12,000 dental professionals were on hand in Montreal for what has become the largest annual dental meeting in Canada.

“From a wide variety of subjects covered, we hope that every member of the dental team will find something of interest,” said Dr. Nicolas Laliberté, president of the JDIQ planning committee, in a welcome letter to attendees.

The exhibit hall was packed with innovative products, the latest in technology and must-have equipment. Meeting attendees began strolling the aisles first thing Monday morning, looking for the newest and most exiting product innovations. Many companies offered hands-on demonstrations, others offered show specials and some even offered giveaways.

Meeting attendees expressed interest in the new CaviCide and CaviWipes disinfectant products available from Sybron TotalCare. At Shofu, attendees wanted to learn more about the BEAUTIFIL Flow Plus injectable hybrid restorative.

At Supermax attendees could enter to win a bicycle. Those who placed an order at Ivoclar Vivadent could step inside a “money booth” to grab coupons for prizes. And International Dental Institute offered free frozen slush drinks to those who stopped by.
